Meet the Staff of First United Methodist Church of Heath

Scott Holcomb-McLain - Pastor

Scott Holcomb-McLain was appointed to First UMC of Heath on March 1, 2007. He is a life long United Methodist and grew up in the small town of Goodview, Virginia, which is just outside of Roanoke. Scott is married to Pamela Holcomb-McLain, who is also an Elder (Honorably Located) in the United Methodist Church and a professional musician. They will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary in April of 2007. Scott’s father, brother, sister, 3 nieces and 2 nephews still live in the Roanoke, VA area. Pam’s parents and grandmother live in Double Oak, TX and her sister is in Cleveland, OH.

Before coming to serve at FUMC Heath, Scott served Northgate UMC in Irving, TX for almost 6 years. He held associate positions at First UMC of Richardson and Spring Valley UMC in Dallas after transferring from the Virginia Annual Conference in 2000. In Virginia, he served Grace Design UMC in Danville, VA for three years before requesting a transfer to Texas due to family health concerns. In Scott's first appointment, he served eight years on the Lakeland Charge (Epworth UMC and Oylers Chapel UMC) as a United Methodist student pastor while completing his education. He received his B.A. from Ferrum College in Religion and Psychology in June of 1991. He received his Masters of Divinity from the Duke Divinity School of Duke University in May of 1995. Kerri Bergerhouse- Administrative Assistant/Office Manager

Kerri has been the backbone of the church office since 1993. She and her husband Phillip have been married since 1981. They have three children, Josh who is 23, Ian, 20 and Cody who is 15. In her spare time, Kerri loves reading, swimming and spending time with her family. Contact Kerri.

Isiak Holiday, Jr. - Director of Music Ministries

Isiak came to us from Huntsville, Texas in August of 2006. He started his directing debut when he was 14 which means he has been directing for 20 years! Isiak has studied voice and piano at Sam Houston State University, and is a versatile musician and an asset to the church. He has breathed new life into our worship services with his lively piano mastery, as well as his incredible voice. It is always a true blessing to hear the love of God through him. Contact Isiak

Liz Gilson - Director of Youth Ministries

Liz graduated from the University of Texas A&M with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Communications. She has been working with youth in the church since the summer before her senior year at A&M, where she worked at First United Methodist Church of Bryan, TX as the Youth Intern. Liz has always been active in the Methodist Church whether it was in youth group, serving on councils, or leading a praise team at the Wesley Foundation at Texas A&M. She loves working with youth because she always seems to learn something new when she is around them. Liz looks forward to planning mission trips, nights out, and bible studies for the youth. Debbie Troxler -Director of Lil’ Voyagers

Debbie has a B.S. in Social work from the University of Tennessee and has taught in faith based schools which include Lil’ Voyagers.

She has been married for 14 years and has 3 children, Drew age 12, Brandon age 8 and Megan age 5.

Debbie grew up in East Tennessee and enjoys going back to visit family and friends and seeing the beautiful Smokey Mountains. Her hobbies include watching baseball, football and spending time with her family. To contact Debbie, please click here
