Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Pam and I come with great joy and excitement to serve First United Methodist Church of Heath. Even though we are just arriving, we feel very much at home. You have received us with such hospitality that we feel you may spoil us. We will do our best to spoil you also!
We would like to extend a special thanks to the FUMC Pastor Parish Relations Committee, the Trustees and to Reid and Rock for their kindness and generosity as we go through the change of appointment process. As Reid and Rock begin their ministry in Flower Mound, let us all be in prayer for them and their new congregation and community. Flower Mound UMC is located only a few miles from Pam’s parents who live in Double Oak. So whenever we visit the Holcomb home place, we will pass by Flower Mound UMC and from time to time will drop in and share your blessings with the Reid and Rock. Also, we are extremely thankful to our Bishop Norris for granting us the privilege to serve with you for many years.
It is quite obvious that FUMC is a faithful and mission oriented church that will not only grow along with the community of Heath but will continue being a transforming power to ensure the community of Heath remains a blessed place to live. We believe this is reflected in FUMC’s motto; “Growing Friends in Christ to Connect Community and Church Through Faith.”
We affirm that FUMC is a vital part of the Heath community and seeks with the guidance of the Holy Spirit to be faithful to the mission of Christ. Our shared mission is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, and soul, and strength and mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves–serving all, especially our community, with the outreaching love of Jesus Christ. With every visit we have made to FUMC, something was “going on” in the church and that is a wonderful sign of faithfulness to our United Methodist comment of “Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.”
Pam and I look forward with great expectation to the joy we will share in ministry with you as we embody the message of II Corinthians 6:1: “We are workers together with Christ!”
